SANTA FE, N.M., April 28, 2009 — The 3DS Users Group, Inc. (3DSUG), an organization for those associated with 3D Systems' technology, brought together over 200 additive manufacturing professionals at its 22nd annual conference and business meeting. The five-day event played host to a mix of new users, technology veterans and industry experts.

Luis Folgar, 3DSUG's 2010 Chairperson, said, “I am extremely pleased with the large number of first-time attendees at this year's conference. This validates the need for the information exchange that our event offers and the interest in connecting with others that are innovating new techniques and applications.”

The conference's program, which kicked off with a vendor fair and reception, included presentations, panel discussions, workshops and round tables.  Keynote speaker Todd Grimm, president of T. A. Grimm & Associates, set the tone with an appeal for all to be experts, to innovate and to collaborate. Abe Reichental, president and CEO of 3D Systems Corporation, shared the company's plans, visions and directions in his corporate report. New for 2010, an aerospace track filled with discussions of users' experiences in applying additive manufacturing to the production of military and commercial aircraft.

3DSUG choose to bestow its highest honor, the President's Award, to Robert (Bob) Zubrickie of Tyco Electronics. “Bob has given so much to 3DSUG and put so much into the conference for so many years. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the President's Award,” said Luis Folgar. Other awards included those for technical achievements in advanced concepts and advanced finishing that were presented to  Fred Hilbrandt with the FBI and Steve Kossett with the University of Minnesota Duluth.  Their awards included conference passes for RAPID 2010 and PDx/amerimold. Further recognition of personal achievements came from the presentation of certificates to those that completed each of the six technology workshops.

3DSUG members elected their 2011 Executive Board. Luis Folgar, who now assumes the role of Past Chairperson, turned his Chairperson position over to Timothy Gornet (University of Louisville). Gary Rabinovitz (Reebok International) and Mark Abshire (DSM Somos) were elected as Vice Chairpersons, and Scott Schermer (SC Johnson) was elected as Secretary. Tom Sorovetz (Chrysler LLC) was appointed as Site Coordinator and Guy Bourdeau (Huntsman Advanced Materials) was appointed Treasurer.

The 2011 Executive Board will develop the 23rd annual 3DS Users Group Conference, which will be held in Miami, FL, at the Hilton Downtown Miami. The event is scheduled for April 3 – 7, 2011.
